SCHOOL RESOURCES
A MESSAGE FROM OUR SRO/DARE OFFICER:
My name is Gene Gavazzi. I am a twenty-five year veteran of the Adams Police Department, and was appointed to the position of D.A.R.E/School Resource Officer in July of 2003.
In August of 2003 I received my certification in D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and in School Resources through the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council in Colchester, VT. In September of that year I began my duties working with the Adams Cheshire Regional School District, specifically in the C.T. Plunkett Elementary School and the Adams Memorial Middle School.
My duties are multi-functional in both schools. At C.T. Plunkett I instruct the 4th and 5th grade D.A.R.E program, as well as a safety course to the younger classes. At the Middle School I serve mainly in the S.R.O. capacity: Teacher, councelor, law enforcer and a source of information on legal and criminal issues.
Most importantly, I am a friend to all of our children, especially when they are alone in school. I have dedicated my career to the care and protection of not only our children but also to the teachers and administrators who educate them.
I am happy to report that my program is steadily expanding within our community. Both Chief Poirot and I continue to work together to make the DARE/SRO program a beneficial teaching tool for the school faculty and a valuable learning source for our children.
