TRAINING

TRAINING REPORT FOR 2005:

February's training consisted of a three day In- Service that was held in North Adams and was attended by Officer's Alan Vigiard, Eugene Gavazzi, David Dean, and Keith Erdeski. Officers Paul Keating, Paul Lennon, Timothy Carpenter and Donna Malloy attended a 3 day In-Service held in Dalton. Detective Lawrence Ordyna attended a four-day clinic for detectives that was sponsored by the Commonwealth Police Services. The Monadnock police Training Council certified Reserve Officer Joshua Baker in the use of expandable batons.

Beginning in March, Sgt. Shawn Briggs attended a Search Warrant class held at the Agawam Academy. Sgt's David Clark, Shawn Briggs and Scott McWhirt attended In-Service training for supervisors held at the Agawam Academy. Sgt's Shawn Briggs and David Clark were re-certified as Breathalyzer Test and Personal Breathalyzer Test at the Agawam Academy. All members of the department attended annual training in First Responder and C.P.R. To end March's training, Reserve Officer Baker was certified as a Defensive Tactics Instructor.

For the month of April, Officers Erdeski, Alan Vigiard and Donna Malloy attended training on Drug Impaired Drivers at the Agawam Academy. The Municipal Police Training Council certified Officer David Dean as a Firearms Instructor.

In May Detective Ordyna attended AHEC training and also attended the New England Narcotics Enforcement Officers Conference that was held in Hyannis. Sgt. Briggs and Dispatcher John Pansecchi attended LEAPS training. Reserve Officer Baker was certified in the use of OC spray.

For the month of June, the departments' annual firearms qualification was held and all officers were certified.

September's training consisted of Sgt's. McWhirt, Briggs and Officer Baker attending a gang-training seminar at the Berkshire County House of Corrections sponsored by the Sheriffs Office.

In October Officers' Erdeski, Gavazzi and Vigiard attended Child on Line Safety training sponsored by Massachusetts Internet Crimes task Force and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

November Sgt. McWhirt and Officer Vigiard attended a class on Advanced Web Page Building at MCLA. Sgt's. Clark, Tarsa, Briggs and McWhirt along with Officers Keating, McLear, Carpenter, Malloy and Officer Peter Kinnas attended Domestic Violence training at the Berkshire Hills Country Club that was sponsored by the Berkshire County District Attorneys Office. Sgt. Clark and Officer Gavazzi attended the Eighth Annual School and Police Conference in Franklin MA. The Massachusetts Secondary School Administrator's Association sponsored this training.


TRAINING REPORT FOR 2004:

In January Officer Keith Erdeski attended training in Grafton for IMC to understand enhancements to new software for the computer system. Sergeants David Clark and Shawn Briggs attended training in Pittsfield for CORI and Sex Offender Registry. A three-day In Service training was held in North Adams with Officers Timothy Carpenter, David Dean, Alan Vigiard, Keith Erdeski, Keith McLear and Sergeants David Clark and Richard Tarsa attending.

February's training consisted of a three day In- Service attended by Detective Lawrence Ordyna held in Agawam. Sergeants Shawn Briggs and Scott McWhirt, as well as Officers, Donna Malloy, Eugene Gavazzi, Michael Megaro, Paul Lennon, Paul Keating and Reserve Gregory Charon attended a three-day In Service training held in Dalton.

Beginning in March, Animal Control Officer Terence Moran attended a ten day ACOAM Certification Course.

April's training consisted of Sergeant David Clark attending the VOWA training held in Pittsfield. All officer of the Department were re-certified for CPR and First Responders, which was held at the Police Department and taught by Officer Michael Megaro. Animal Control Officer Terence Moran attended a class held at the Berkshire Humane Society. Officer Timothy Carpenter attended a five-day training on Child Passenger Safety that was held in Greenfield.

For the month of June, Dispatcher John Pansecchi attended LEAPS training in Palmer. Sgt's Richard Tarsa, Scott McWhirt, Officer's Alan Vigiard and Keith McLear all attended a three-day training on Field Sobriety that was held at the Adams Police Department. All officers were certified in firearms. Chief Poirot and Officer Eugene Gavazzi attended training in Northampton. Chief Poirot, Sgt's David Clark, Richard Tarsa, and Scott McWhirt and Shawn Briggs all attended MERCS training that was held in Agawam. Sgt's Shawn Briggs, Richard Tarsa and Scott McWhirt attended two-day command training.

September's training was given by the Berkshire County Drug Task force and was held in Lanesboro, Sgt's. Shawn Briggs, Richard Tarsa, Officer's Keith McLear, Michael Megaro, David Dean and Donna Malloy attended.

In October Officer's Eugene Gavazzi and Donna Malloy attended SAIN training. Animal Control Officer Terry Moran attended a training held by the Berkshire Humane Society. Dispatcher's Anthony Piscioneri, John Pansecchi, Thomas Romaniak and Lindsay Chittenden attended a Suicide Prevention training held in Agawam. To end the training for the month Sgt's Richard Tarsa, Scott McWhirt and Shawn Briggs attended training on Rule 3 g.

In November Officer David Dean attended a two-day training for tazers that was held in Braintree.

To end this years training Sgt. Shawn Briggs and Dispatcher John Pansecchi attended a LEAPS training that was held in Palmer. Officer Donna Malloy and Alan Vigiard attended a training that was held by the District Attorneys office in Pittsfield on interviewing children.
